There's a new page of Rigby's Journal up at the RiGBY site, check it out. There's also been some small tweaks to the RiGBY store. The mini-comic is now available on Etsy, but I'm still including a free sketch with every comic. There's only 10 left, so get 'em while they last.
My favorite obscure cartoon from the 80's is Dino-Riders, whose basic premise was, "Hey, lets put some Star Wars stuff on these Dinosaurs!" It was as amazing as it sounds. There was a short lived cartoon, an even shorter lived comic book series, but the main attraction was some really great toys. The sculpting on the dinosaurs was of such a high quality that when the line finally failed, the Smithsonian Institute re-released the Dinosaurs without their "battle gear." So Dino-Riders is pretty dear to my heart, and I was super excited when it looked as if I might be working on some Dino-Riders art for publication. Nothing came of it, but it was a lot of fun sketching out Dinosaurs with lasers. Dino-Riders has also been something I've kept at the back of my mind while working on RiGBY. RiGBY may be lacking the same hi-tech weaponry, but Dino-Riders (and more-so the Dinotopia books by James Gurney) are certainly an influence.
On a side note, I had the greatest parents ever, because I had the Tyrannosaurs Rex. It was, without question, the greatest toy in the history of the world. Check it out:
I'm starting a new sub-feature called Rigby's Journal. Hopefully it will be a fun catch-all for the character and setting sketches I do for RiGBY. Head over and check it out.
A little Beatles illustration for my Dad's Birthday card. Happy Birthday to my Dad, who gave me the greatest gift of all (no, not life; a love of the Fab Four).
